Topic 1 - This is Me

Our topic this term is called ‘This is Me’. We will be learning about ourselves in lots different ways. We will be looking at how to keep our bodies healthy, the different parts of our body, our senses and collecting data about ourselves.

We will also be taking part in Forest Schools this term. A letter will be sent home with your child for more information. Please let us know us know if you have any questions regarding forest schools.

Topic 2 - Creative Constructors

Our topic this half term is called 'Creative Constructors.' We will be looking at bridges in particular and creating our own Bridge Fact Files.

As part of our topic work we will be looking at materials and their properties. During our Science learning we will be carrying out a Science Experiment where we will answer the questions: 'Can you make a bridge that is strong enough to hold a toy car?' Keep an eye out on Twitter to see how our experiment goes :)

Topic 3 - Our Amazing World

Our third topic this year is called 'Our Amazing World' and we will be focusing on animals, space and Wales.

When looking at animals we will be learning about habitats, life cycles and food chains. We are also lucky enough to have some real life animals coming into school to see us. Keep a look out on Twitter for these pictures :)

When looking at space we will be learning about the Solar System, Welsh astronauts and making our own newspaper reports from space.

When looking at Wales we will be learning about keeping Wales green and clean, the story of the Red and White Dragon and making our own information leaflets about Wales.

During this topic we will also be taking part in Infant Samba with Upbeat. We will be sharing photos of these sessions on our Twitter page.

This year we will be sending home weekly spellings for the children to practise at home ready for our weekly spelling test on a Friday. Please let us know if you have any concerns or queries about your childs' spellings.

Reading in Year 2

Reading at home is very important. Reading for just 10 minutes a day can make a BIG difference. Each week we will be sending reading books home for you to read with your child. Please comment on your child's reading ability in the yellow book before sending the books back to school to be changed. We ask for reading books to be brought in on a Wednesday :)

Accessing Google Classroom from Home

To access Google classroom pupils can download a FREE app via the App store on an ipad or iphone and via the Google Play Store on Android devices. Pupils then need to sign in using the username and password

provided to them by the class teacher.

To access google classroom on a laptop or PC pupils need to go to and sign in with their HWB details.

Forgotten your HWB details?  No problem, notify your class teacher and they can help you out.
