How does my body work?

Croeso! Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely Easter Break! Our topic for the Summer term is 'How does my body work?'.  This is a Science based topic which will focus on our bodies.  We will be looking at the organs and bones that make up the body, our senses, the digestive system, looking after our teeth, balanced diets and how exercise can affect our bodies.  We will be carrying out a range of investigations to answer our big questions.

Our big questions for this topic include:

- What is my body made up of?

- How do I keep my body healthy?

- Where does our food go after we eat?

- How do I look after my teeth?

We will also be adding to these big questions through pupil voice as we explore the topic.

Below is our topic overview for our "How does my body work?" topic:

Wonderful Wales

Croeso! Welcome back! We have been so excited to be reunited with you all back in the classroom! Our topic for this half term is 'Wonderful Wales' with a focus on Welsh Castles.  We began looking at this topic as part of our Online Learning, and we have already seen some fabulous work for this topic on Google Classroom.  We will be continuing this topic back in the classroom.  As part of this topic we will be looking at the features of castles, comparing castles in Wales as well as the rest of the World, locating castles on a map and learning about historic Welsh Monarchs.

Our big questions for this project include:

-  What are the features of a castle?

- Where are Welsh castles located?

- Who were the historic Welsh monarchs?

Winter Workshop

Our final project of the Autumn term is 'Winter Workshop'. This project has  a STEM and Design and Technology focus.  The children will spend time researching, planning, designing, making and evaluating their very own Lava Lamps.  We will be using oil, water and food colouring to make our "lava lamps" in recycled water bottles.  As well as a heavy D&T focus with the design and making process, we will also be exploring different materials such as oil and water, and how they interact with each other.

Our big questions for this project include:

-  How will I design and make a lava lamp?

- What went well with my lava lamp?

Welcome back, we hope you all had a happy and safe October half term break.  Our next project for the next 4 weeks is called 'A Place in Time'.  This project has a focus on unique moments in History that have changed the World, including significant historical figures.  In Year 4, we will be looking at 'The History of the NHS'.  We will be exploring the importance of the NHS, how it has changed over time, and significant people associated to the History of the NHS such as Aneurin Bevan and Florence Nightingale.

Our big questions for this topic include:

-What is the NHS?

-How has the NHS changed over time?
