Winter Workshop

Our final project of the Autumn term is 'Winter Workshop'. This project has  a STEM and Design and Technology focus.  The children will spend time researching, planning, designing, making and evaluating their very own Lava Lamps.  We will be using oil, water and food colouring to make our "lava lamps" in recycled water bottles.  As well as a heavy D&T focus with the design and making process, we will also be exploring different materials such as oil and water, and how they interact with each other.

Our big questions for this project include:

-  How will I design and make a lava lamp?

- What went well with my lava lamp?

A Place in Time

Welcome back, we hope you all had a happy and safe October half term break.  Our next project for the next 4 weeks is called 'A Place in Time'.  This project has a focus on unique moments in History that have changed the World, including significant historical figures.  In Year 4, we will be looking at 'The History of the NHS'.  We will be exploring the importance of the NHS, how it has changed over time, and significant people associated to the History of the NHS such as Aneurin Bevan and Florence Nightingale.

Our big questions for this topic include:

-What is the NHS?

-How has the NHS changed over time?

Our Numeracy focus as part of this project is Telling the Time.  Here are some useful links to practise telling the time at home:

Life on Earth

Our second project of this year is "Life on Earth".  We will be spending the next 4 weeks leading up to Half Term looking at the different animals and plants that live on our planet.  We will be particularly focusing on animal habitats and adaptations, food chains, life cycles and the different ways in which we can look after our planet.

Our big questions for this project include:

-  Who lives on Earth?

- What do animals need to survive?

- How do forces affect us?

New Beginnings!

Welcome back!  We are all so excited to see Year 4 on Monday 7th September 2020.

This year we will be focusing on monthly projects.  Our first Project for the month of September is "New Beginnings."

This project will have a Well-being focus, where we will be carrying out various activities to ensure the children feel settled upon returning to school.

Our big questions for this project include:

-  Who am I?

-  What makes me amazing?

-  What does my life look like?
