Learning for life...successful futures start here!

Attendance

At Bryn Hafod Primary, we aim to ensure that each of our pupils attends school regularly and on time, making the most of opportunities available to them.

Regular attendance at school is important to help our children achieve and get the best possible start in life.

If children do not attend school regularly they may:

  • Struggle to keep up with school work
  • Miss out on the social side of school life

We are continuing to monitor attendance very closely.

Please ensure you send your child to school every day.

Our School Attendance officer is currently contacting families where attendance is a concern. If your child is unable to attend school please ensure you contact the school office on each morning of absence.

Appointment cards must be shown for any appointments or we may be unable to authorise the absence.

Being late for school reduces learning time. Some children regularly arrive after the start of the school day. All children must be in class by 8.45am when learning starts. If you arrive after this time, your child will receive a late mark. If they arrive after 9.15 it will be marked as an unauthorised absence.

We will be monitoring punctuality with regular late gates.

If your child arrives late, they must report to the office.

Our gates are open from 8.35am but will shut promptly at 8.45am.

Fines can now be given for 10 or more unauthorised absences and for arriving persistently late to school. They can also be issued for absence from school due to holidays where the child’s attendance is under 92%.

Holiday request forms must be completed for all holidays or day trips. If you have any concerns about your child’s attendance, please call the school office to speak to Mrs Porter
